Relish Food on Film festival
I’m excited to attend a new film festival in Edmonton. The Relish Food Festival, which takes place November 13-16, showcases films about food. I’ll be in attendance Friday and Saturday night. I’m quite disappointed that I can’t attend tonight’s screening of “To Make a farm”, created by filmmaker Steve Suderman. “To make a farm”, which […]

I won an award
I’ve been an agricultural journalist for several years. This year, my article “Canada picked for sustainable beef pilot” won silver for weekly press reporting at the Canadian Farm Writers Federation awards. Woot! I’m looking forward to receiving my plaque in the mail.

A brief update, and my new book!
It was a long, hard and cold winter. I had depression. I got better. And then some other stuff happened. I participated in Scrawl-a-thon, a fundraiser for Wordsworth Youth Writing camp, and managed to raise over $400 for the camp. I went to a workshop taught by one of my writing heroes Sarah Selecky . […]
Fiction read in 2013
Well, I read a lot of good stuff, but there was no overall winner or book I want to marry this year. I was a jury member for the City of Calgary book prize, so I had to read everything submitted for the prize. I also finished a major non-fiction project, so my reading was […]
