Chocolate black bean brownie smoothie

Remember a while ago when I tried a bean smoothie and had to choke it down? Well, I tried another one and it was so delicious that I’ve already made it twice. Other than that, I’ve just been reading my novel out loud to myself and working. I’m heading to Saskatoon for the long weekend. July should be a quiet month for me.

This chocolate smoothie was absolutely delicious. I’m a chocoholic and I loved it.

Chocolate black bean smoothie

1 banana (the recipe called for frozen, but I didn’t have one)
½ cup black beans
2 medjool dates, pitted
1 cup milk (I’m not sure if you can use actual milk in smoothie recipes. This recipe calls for almond milk. I substituted rice/coconut milk).
1 tbsp hemp seeds (chia seeds also work. I substituted them the first time, because I couldn’t find my hemp seeds)
1 tbsp cocoa powder (not hot chocolate. The non-sweetened cocoa powder)
1 tsp ground cinnamon.

Place all ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass and serve immediately.
