2011 was an amazing year for me. I did a lot of fantastic things including:

1. Sheared a sheep
2. Released my second book and did more press than I’d ever done in my life
3. First radio appearance on my own on CBC Radio
4. Took on a new book project
5. Floated down a river in a tube
6. Saw a lot of good bands including Pearl Jam, The Deep Dark Woods, the Pixies and Death Cab for Cutie
7. Met a ton of people who have been awarded the Order of Canada. Interviewed a lot of fascinating people.
8. Met Temple Grandin
9. Made new friends and got closer to other friends that I already had
10. Saw Wicked and learned that I don’t really like it
11. Volunteered at Folk Fest
12. Got a new tattoo
13. Canoed from Devon to Edmonton
14. Went to Lethbridge for the first time
15. Went to Calgary Stampede for the first time
16. Met a lot of authors whose work I admire
17. Blogged for the National Post
18. Performed belly dance in a restaurant for the first time. Super fun!
19. Got 100% on an urban agriculture paper 🙂 Completed two more classes towards my food security certificate
20. Taught a journalism class at a kid’s camp and spent a week with some awesome kids
21. Went on a four city book tour. Did five events in 9 days.

It was an amazing year. I’m looking forward to 2012, the Year of the Dragon. The Dragon is my sign in the Chinese zodiac. Everyone knows that dragons are cool!
